Itinerary In Detail

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most beautiful wildlife areas and famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, seasonal wetlands, and open grasslands. Upon arrival, begin your game drive through the park. You may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the safari before continuing with your afternoon game drive. Later, leave the park and drive to your mid-range lodge in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Karatu – Lake Manyara National Park – Karatu

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park for a full day of wildlife exploration. The park is known for its beautiful landscapes, groundwater forests, large elephant populations, diverse birdlife, and the alkaline Lake Manyara. During the game drive, you may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, baboons, monkeys, hippos, and different species of birds. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing with the afternoon game drive. Later, return to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Karatu – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart Karatu and travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into vast grass-covered plains, providing excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Enjoy a game drive while making your way toward your lodge or tented camp. Serengeti is home to lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and many other species. Depending on the season and location of the herds, you may also have an opportunity to witness part of the Great Wildebeest Migration.

Day 4: Full-Day Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park. This is a full day dedicated to exploring the Serengeti and searching for its incredible wildlife. Your experienced safari guide will use local knowledge to identify areas where wildlife activity is good. You may encounter lions resting in the shade, elephants moving across the plains, giraffes browsing among trees, large herds of wildebeest and zebras, and predators such as cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the game drive before continuing your wildlife exploration in the afternoon. Return to your lodge or tented camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti before departing toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Continue through the beautiful landscapes of northern Tanzania, with opportunities for additional wildlife viewing along the way. Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing to the Ngorongoro area. In the afternoon, arrive at your lodge or tented camp on or near the crater rim. Take some time to relax and enjoy the spectacular surroundings.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a memorable game drive. The crater is one of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife destinations and supports a large concentration of animals within its unique landscape. During the game drive, look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, gazelles, and many bird species. There may also be an opportunity to see the endangered black rhinoceros, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before ascending in the afternoon. After leaving the crater, continue to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Karatu – Arusha

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for a relaxed morning at the lodge or a short additional activity before starting the drive. Arrive in Arusha in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel, airport, or another preferred location. This marks the end of your 7-Day Tanzania Wildlife Safari with Ness Dream Safari.
